Detailed Itinerary For Gokyo Lake and Renjo La Pass Trek
Day 1: Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport and shift to the hotel room
On the very first day, you will arrive in Kathmandu and be placed in your respective hotels. A member from The Trek Nepal will be present at the airport and also transfer you to the hotel.
We will debrief you about the Renjo La Pass trek along with the Gokyo lakes in the evening. You are free to explore the city or rest in your hotel rooms during the evenings.
Day 2: Transfer to the airport and flight to Lukla and trek to Phakding
We have a beautiful breakfast early in the morning and catch the flight to Lukla. It will be a stunning opportunity to explore the beauty of the mountains.
Lukla flight is less than 30 minutes, but the beauty that comes along is the key. Landing in Lukla means we will have lunch and start the trek towards Phakding. By evening, we will reach Phakding and stay the night there.
Day 3: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar
Phakding will be the night of our stay, and we start the journey towards Namche Bazaar today. Walking the banks of Dudh Koshi, you will enjoy the beauty of the trek. Slowly, you will get views of Thamserku and later reach Jorsale.
Trekkers will get views of Sagarmatha National Park and move towards their spot, Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar was once the trade center, and we will get views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam from a particular location.
Day 4: Acclimatization at Namche Bazaar
As we hit the higher altitude, we will be acclimatizing at Namche Bazaar. Today, the Trek Nepal team will visit the local places like Khunde and Khumjung for acclimatization.
We will interact with the locals and understand more about them. Slowly, we will also visit Khumjung Gompa and Khunde Hillary Hospital. A day of rest and understanding the local places.
Day 5: Trek from Namche to Dole
After spending a day of acclimatization, we will head towards Dole, which is above 4000m. The day starts with slow ridges of Kyanjuma. The journey will cross rhododendron, pine, juniper, mosses, and lichen forests.
During the spring and autumn, this place looks dreamy. The team will be passing through the Kharkas and Sherpa settlements. By the end of the day, with 6 hours of trek, we will reach Dole.
Day 6: Trek from Dole to Machhermo
The early morning breakfast at Dole means that the journey to Renjo La Pass moves ahead. We will be hitting almost 4500m today, so things get a bit tough. Don’t rush, but take the day slow.
Moving ahead, we will be noticing the waterfalls, narrow terrains along steep ridges. Crossing through the sandy fields and rivers along with the views of Lambara and Thamserku, we reach Machhermo.
Day 7: Trek from Machhermo to Gokyo Lake
Tighten your seatbelt as we hit the Gokyo Lake on the journey to Gokyo Lake with the Renjo La Pass trek. As we finish exploring Machhermo, we will head towards Gokyo Lake.
The excellent views of the Kantega valley and Mount Cho Oyu will only make things interesting. Slowly, we will hit places like Ngozumpa glacier, Longpongo, and Raboche Tsho. Lastly, we arrive at Gokyo to spend the night.
Day 8: Hike to Gokyo Ri
Yes, it’s happening, and we will visit the Gokyo Ri today. It is at an altitude of 5357m, so things can get a bit tougher. A 3-hour trek from Gokyo will take you to Gokyo Ri. It is the view of Cho Oyu, Everest, Gyachung Kang, Lhotse, Makalu, and other mountains that makes the visit special.
Returning back you will explore the 4th and 5th lakes. Trekkers will have a chance to visit the Ngozumpa glacier, which is the largest glacier in Nepal. By the end of the day, you have to walk back to Gokyo to spend the night.
Day 9: Trek from Gokyo to Lunden through Renjo La Pass
A challenging day awaits in the journey to Gokyo Lake and the Renjo La Pass trek. Climbing uphill, we will go through Renjo La Pass. The trail looks steep, so be careful at the start.
The mountains make the experience better as we continue through the Dudhpokhari lakes. Slippery and cold trail means that we are reaching Renjo La Pass and Relama Tsho. Slowly, we push for the Bhote Koshi valley, reaching Lunden by the end of the day.
Day 10: Trek to Thame
As you have hit the altitude of 5300m last night, we will be heading down in altitude. The destination for the day is Thame, and it just gets interesting. Through the journey, you will meet various traders on the route.
5 hours of trek leads you to Thame. From Thame monastery to Mani Rimdu festival, there is much more to explore and understand. The dense population of Buddhists and Sherpa makes the place more vivid.
Day 11: Trek to Namche Bazaar from Thame
The journey in the Renjo La Pass trek, along with Gokyo Lake, is slowly coming towards the end. Today we will be heading back to Namche Bazaar. The descent might seem quick as we hit the 3400m mark.
Stoned cottages with settlements like Thamo and Samde mark the journey. Reaching Namche Bazaar after 6 hours means that you will be staying the night and also celebrate the journey of the Renjo La Pass trek.
Day 12: Trek back to Lukla from Namche Bazaar
As we complete the early morning breakfast, the journey moves towards Lukla today. Leaving the traces of Namche Bazaar, we will be heading towards Lukla. 5 hours of trek means that we will be heading to Lukla airport.
Crossing suspension bridges and the city of Namche, we will reach Lukla by the end of the day. The fellow trekkers from The Trek Nepal will have conversations with other trekkers and enjoy their time.
Day 13: Fly back to Kathmandu
The early morning in Lukla suggests that we will be heading for Kathmandu today. Sadly, we will say goodbye to the beautiful Renjo La Pass trek as we head back.
Reaching Kathmandu in a short flight, you will have time to enjoy. You can either visit the city, the religious places, or also rest in your hotel rooms. Some of the trekkers buy souvenirs for their loved ones, too.
Day 14: Fly back to the home nation
Sadly, the day has come when all the trekkers will be heading back home. A member of The Trek Nepal will drop you off at the airport.
